Monthly Meetings & Membership Information
The Club’s monthly meeting is held on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm. Meetings are held at our clubhouse in the Club’s hangar on Colorado Ave (just south of the beacon and EAA hangar) at the Anoka County Blaine Airport (KANE).
GATEWAY IS AN EQUITY MEMBERSHIP FLYING CLUB
Gateway Flying Club has a maximum of 45 equity shares, and memberships are typically available. To join, a member purchases a share in the club, granting them an equal stake in the club’s assets.
Shareholders may sell their shares on the open market and advertise the sale on public platforms such as Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. The sale price is not fixed and is negotiated between the buyer and seller. All share transfers require approval from the Club’s Board of Directors.

Equity Shareholder Dues: $178/month (including taxes).
Associate Member Dues: $112/month (includes taxes).
Immediate family members of shareholders may also fly our aircraft. This means your spouse and dependent children can fly or learn to fly without having their own membership. Flying family member dues: $155 (includes taxes) for the first three months, then $55/month (includes taxes) thereafter, which includes taxes.
Membership questions & answers
Is financing available?
Yes, but only for club-held shares. In 2017, the board approved one-year financing for club-held shares. Shares purchased from the club (not from a club member) may be financed at 0% interest. Terms require 50% down, with the remaining balance divided into 11 equal payments and billed along with the monthly dues. Members who finance shares may not vote or hold office until the share is paid in full.
Do you have required work days or are they optional?
Earn points and skip the annual participation fee! Our participation points system rewards you for getting involved—whether it’s attending meetings, helping with hangar upkeep, updating GPS data, organizing social events, or giving our planes a good wash. There are plenty of ways to contribute and rack up points! Get involved, stay engaged, and enjoy the benefits of the aviation community!
How full are the schedules?
With just 1-2 weeks’ notice, you’ll have excellent availability, and even last-minute bookings are often possible if you’re flexible. The schedule is moderately full during summer.
What restrictions are there on overnight flights?
There are hardly any restrictions! Aircraft access is nearly as good as owning your own plane—maybe even better. You can take the aircraft overnight on weekdays for trips up to 4 days, with just a small usage expectation of 1 hour per weekday and 2 hours per weekend night. Plus, every member gets one long weekend reservation per month (Friday through Monday). Need an extended adventure? You’re covered with two long trips each year—nine days in the summer and a generous 16-day trip in the winter!
Do you own or rent hangar space?
In August of 2016, the club purchased 5,200-square-foot building that contains a 60×60-foot hangar, a 60×24-foot heated club space, and restroom facilities. We’ll have it paid off in late 2026.
Who does the Club maintenance?
Maintenance is performed by an FAA certified A&P Mechanic including oil changes and inspections. All maintenance activities are done in accordance with FAA regulations.
Does the club rent aircraft or lease hangar space to non-members?
No. The club’s aircraft and hangars are for member use only.
How do I reserve aircraft?
We use FlightCircle! That makes it super easy for members to reserve aircraft any time.
Does the club own its aircraft?
Yes, the 172, 182, and Lance are all owned by the club outright.
Who pays for fuel?
You pay for fuel. Fuel policies vary slightly by plane, but this gives members the flexibility to either fuel themselves at KANE Self Serve, or call the fuel truck and save some time.
